We are discontinuing the mini eggs so stop in and snag the last ones at the discounted rate. It’s starting to get more and more difficult to know the difference these days so they will all be mixed up from now on.

Goat kids have been going to their new homes this week. Gus and Lu left for Cleveland Metropark Zoo yesterday. Angus, Fergus, and 2 more of the little kids will bd on their way to Edgely Farm in Virginia Sunday morning. The last two kids, Ellie and Pinky will be here for one more week so come visit while you can!

Gris and Max are keeping us on our toes with both being at the vet today – max in Columbus to visit the cardiologist and Griswold getting some electrolytes in Maria Stein. Clearly one of us should have gone to vet school.

Lots of fresh veggies in the store this week including: sugar snap peas, garlic scapes, the last of the radishes, beets, bunch onions, zucchini, kale, and beet greens.

We are well stocked on herbs too : cilantro, sage, thyme, dill, spearmint, oregano, and basil!

The cherry pie jam has been restocked and there is a small basket of ‘sale soap’ – $5 a bar.

Come on out 2-6:30 today.

In other notes I wanted to let you know that we will not be listing the veggies on the online market this year- they fluctuate so much and there are too many varieties for me to keep up with. As you have probably already noted we are awful at keeping up with the technological side of this endeavor. The more easily accounted for items will be listed – mainly bread, jam, syrup, honey, lip balm. I will try to be better about posting what veggies will be available and you can do your shopping in person. So follow us on Facebook or instagram for pictures or watch out for these emails! You are still more than welcome to drop notes in the comments about produce you’d like and we will do our best to set it aside.

Thanks for your continued patience and patronage! Now to say goodbye to the first goat kids heading to their new home at Cleveland Metropark Zoo!

Ordering is open ( sorry I forgot to enable it sooner) . You can now place orders for Friday and Saturday pick up and at the Sidney Farmers Market. Please get those orders in by Thursday night because I start all the dough Friday Morning! Tuesday orders need to be in by Sunday.

We will have radishes, some beets and carrots, pac Choi, asparagus, lettuce, and herbs available for in person shopping Friday and Tuesday afternoons 2-6:30.

It’s been busy on the farm this week. Tomatoes are being strung, sweet corn and field corn have been planted, hay has been cut and will be going in the barn today , along with all the normal ventures . Have a great week.

Eggs, eggs, and more eggs!

We have lots of eggs so please stop in anytime! The small eggs are slowly getting larger. We might have a slight dip in the number of large eggs until they do because we had a small massacre of the old ladies earlier this week. We found at least 8 carcasses and it could have been more. Matt staked out the coops for a few night but we are still unsure who the culprit was. We also lost one of the younger chickens a few nights later to another predator. Let’s just say it wasn’t a great week to be a chicken.

This weekend, Saturday 6-9, is the opening of the Rustbelt Fibershed’s One Year One Outfit program at Wave Pool Art Center in Cincinnati. All 24 outfits are locally made with locally sourced materials (within 250 miles of Cleveland ). Grumpy Goat has worked with the amazing Katie Pfohl on one of the outfits that will be displayed , showcasing our locally grown fiber from the sheep and goats! You can stop into wave pool during their open hours between Saturday May 13th and June 17th.

Have a great week!

Egg sale this week, no online ordering for next week

Hello everyone,

It’s been another busy spring week here. The fields are being prepped for crops, the animals will start being moved to pasture today, veggies are growing, soap an jam are being stockpiled. Mini ages are on sale this week for $2.25 so get two of them for the price of one regular sized dozen!

The newest, and still unnamed cat that showed up in the middle of winter had kittens! Four of them, though they got a bit tangled in their umbilical cords so we are treating one with antibiotics now and he will be having a leg amputated in a couple weeks. We are hoping to find new homes for all of them (2 boys, 2 girls) around 12 weeks old so if you’ve been contemplating getting a cat we can definitely let you come visit once they reach 2 weeks old (so mama cat has some alone time to bond). Mama cat is super lovey and friendly now so I have high hops that all these guys will be lovers.

We might be single handedly employing the vets office these days. So along with Tripod, the three legged kitten, we are also treating a goat for ringworm. As of now it is just one small patch on one goat but we ask that you refrain from petting the goats this week while we make sure it is under control. Ringworm is actually just a fungal infection but it can be passed to humans so better be safe than sorry.

One of our rams is also being treated for arthritis, which is what happens when you have an aging population of animals and most of our sheep are in the elderly range at this point.

And Griswold the Bernese mountain dog has been diagnosed with an ineffective pancreas so we will have to start supplementing him with raw pancreas at every meal. If anyone knows a source of pig or cow pancreas, us vegetarians are now in the market for some!

Tomorrow We also will be welcoming back three of our goats sold previous years. Unfortunately the home they went to are selling the farm so we will have goats looking for new pastures if you are interested in a fiber pet of your own!!!!

And just a heads up I will be leaving the market closed for ordering this week. You are more than welcome to come in next Tuesday for eggs, honey , and syrup but there won’t be any bread available. Thanks for understanding.
