Market is open

The market is open for orders. Notice that we’ve gone back to our summer pick up options. We’ve added some sugar snap peas, Muir lettuce, and Grandma Hadleys lettuce. We’ll still have snow peas as well.

Things are crazy busy on the farm right now. We’ve baled the first cutting of hay for the year, goat kids will be leaving for their new homes starting Thursday, and there’s a back log of things to plant in the garden as well as beans still to plant in the fields. Fingers crossed we get it all done!

Bags Needed!!!

The store is open this afternoon until 6:30. Swing on in for some fresh snow peas or sugar snap peas along with our other regular greens and herbs.

I’m hoping to entice you all into cleaning out your closets and cabinets of any lightly used bags – plastic or paper. We are running low and would rather not buy new ones. Just drop them anywhere in the store! Thanks in advance!

This is just a reminder that the store will be set up for in person shopping this week If you forgot to place an order just swing on in. We will have lots of fresh kale, collards, lettuce, asparagus, cilantro, thyme, mint, sage, oregano, as well as goat milk soap, honey, and maple syrup.

Also for those interested in a Raw Milk Herdshare opportunity come chat with Annette from Bair Trax Dairy at 6pm tomorrow. She will answer all your questions. Summer hours and Herdshare from Bair Trax

Well today finally feels like May. This beautiful weather definitely helps with our productivity. The garden is filling up quickly and market season is fast approaching.

I wanted to let you know a couple things. First off this coming week will be the last that we use the Winter Hours. Starting the following week with the 17th the Farm store will be fully open for in person shopping (as well as pre orders). We will be sticking with the same schedule as last year so it will be open for shopping Tuesday and Fridays 2-6:30pm and Saturdays 8-12 (we will be at the Sidney Farmers Market on Saturdays so it is set up completely self serve).

I also wanted to mention for those of you interested in herdshare opportunities with Bair Trax Dairy we will be having Annette come to the farm store on Tuesday the 17th at 6:00pm. She can explain everything you need to know about their operation. I am hoping that with a good number of interested folks that Annette will be able to to a milk drop off weekly on Tuesdays in the area – until then I am willing to pick up the milk when I go down on Tuesdays and we will have it available for pick up in the farm store.

So even if you aren’t sure about the herdshare, come on down, get some veggies, listen to Annette, and decide from there! No pressure.

We are open for ordering. New this week : winter Wonderland romaine lettuce, Pak Choi, and Mizuna are available again!

Keep thinking about signing up for a herdshare with Bair Trax Dairy. I’ll let you know later this week when Annette will be coming up to answer questions and sign people up. Their milk is delicious and makes great yogurt, butter, and farm cheese!

We will also be setting up at First Place Christian Center in Troy next Tuesday for the Spring in person Miami County Locally Grown market. Come see us and the other vendors!

The market is open for orders this week. we still have lots and lots of eggs so think about stocking up now. Eggs are already back in the farm store so help yourself anytime.

Just a heads up that some of our prices may be fluctuating in the next few weeks as we recalculate our expenses for the new season.

Now that spring is here we will be cleaning up and reorganizing the store and hope to have it ready for in person shopping later this month!

For anyone that wants to come out and see the goats just drop us a line the day before. The kids are all super friendly and would love some interaction! They’ll only be here thru May so don’t wait to long to stop in.

I was also wondering if anyone was looking to join an Organic Milk Herdshare. Matt and I have started picking up our own milk on Tuesdays from folks we met at the Troy Market. If there is enough interest up here it’s possible they could do a milk drop in the area (or I can pick it up when I drop farmers market stuff off on Tuesdays). Ordering is open for the week! If you didn’t notice last week we added some delicious mild mustard greens that are edible through the flowering stage. The really are delicious. I’ve also just added some Muir lettuce. And always there’s lots of kale!!!!

Hi everyone! It appears that ordering was never enabled this week even though I remember doing it. I must have hit the wrong button.

It’s been a bit crazy on the farm with the sap running like crazy. We pulled one all nighter to use up the sap before it went bad and are considering another tonight.

We’ve had one goat momma decide to stop nursing one of her kids so we now have to go in and hold her throughout the day so he can eat.

Snowy’s boy came down with pneumonia , which according to the vet can happen when they inhale too much amniotic fluid during birth. That has involved shots, tube feeding and vet visits.

Snowy also had to go to the vet as one side of her udder is not working. After massages three times a day for three days the vet tried to break through the scar tissue to no avail. She will now be nursing on one side only.

I’ve opened the market for real now and will have it open until tomorrow morning in case you want to place any last minute orders! Thanks for your patience!

We continue to wait on goat kids . I think they are just testing to see how many times we’ll wake up in one night to check on them. Luckily we have the barn camera hooked up so we don’t actually have to get out of bed to take a peek at all the mamas!

Besides anxiously waiting we’ve been busy with the 2022 syrup season! 3 fresh gallons have been bottled with more to come in a couple days. Last year we got 33 gallons bottled so we have our work cut out for us!

My mind is blanking on other farm news… probably because Matt just walked in with freshly made pizza off the grill! Time to eat! The market is open for orders. Get the greens early because we had to give some of them a rest this week- they are growing slow this time of year!

Special Sunday Pick up!!!

For those that haven’t noticed the market is open. We’ve included the option to pick up Sunday Morning in case you want to get some last minute bread for all your game day dips or pick up a basket of goodies to gift your Valentine! Tuesday Pick ups are also still available.

New this week are a few Valentines day gift baskets featuring things like our local honey, maple syrup, and bourbon spiced nuts, as well as lip balms and soap.

I’ve also finally added the Tokyo Bekana cabbage to the order form. This is more like lettuce than cabbage with buttery leaves and a mild flavor that can be eaten raw or cooked.

We also thought we’d let everyone know that tapping season has started. We put 45 maple taps in yesterday and got our first load of about 50 gallons sap to start boiling this week!
