Happy Winter Everyone,

Hopefully you are all doing better than us this week! We have been huddled by our fireplace as we are still trying to get our boiler up and working again. Fingers crossed we can keep the pipes thawed out until that happens.

I just wanted to draw your attention to a new item I just listed: an Elderberry Syrup Kit. Molly Fogt makes these kits. If you have any questions about them I can put you in contact with her! They are $20.

I also made a batch of Bourbon Spiced nuts that we will have available at Aullwood Nature Center for their holiday show tomorrow. Come and see us, or message me asap, if you would like me to set some aside for you. 1 lb for $16, 1/2 lb for $8. You can email at grumpygoatexperiment@gmail.com or text me at 603-828-8619.

Stay warm everyone!

The past couple weeks have continued to be busy on the farm. We finished the soybean and black bean harvests. A lot of the black beans split while harvesting so we will probably be selling both split and whole beans in the near future, as soon as we pick out the rogue soybeans.

We’ve been emptying the bin of last years corn and hope to get this years corn in soon.

Last weekend we attended our last goat show of the season in North Carolina. Buckley – our last kid from this year- took Reserve Grand Champion Buck and also found his new herd. He now lives in Georgia. Logan, who did not attend the event in person but sent his fleece, took home Grand Champion Fleece! The judge made me promise I would find him a crown to wear…. I’ll post pics if I find one!

The rest of the goats have begun their breeding season. We expect kids throughout the month of March so plan on swinging if in to help us socialize them!

We have also been planting our garlic – about 6 varieties are planted so far with 4 to go. And for those that still need some garlic there’s still a little left – mostly Killarney – which are smaller heads but still delicious.

And unfortunately we had to say goodbye to our founding flock member , Nuzzler, this week. She was an older gal, always eager for treats and head scratches. We miss her already. If only all our 4 legged friends would live as long as us. We did welcome in new farm members this week too though. New laying chicks are brooding in the heated shed. We shouldn’t have a lack of eggs come spring. And Teddy, a wethered goat from a couple years ago returned home. More picks to come on our FB and IG.

Remember next Tuesday is Election Day!!!! Get out and vote!

Happy Tuesday,

This is a shout out to remind you that today and Friday are the last days the farm store will be open this year. Come get the last veggies of the season 2-6:30 either day. I removed the veggies from preordering but we will have the store stocked with all remaining fresh goodies.

Throughout the winter we will have bread, honey, and syrup available for Tuesday pick up 2-6. The ordering window will get expanded through Sunday night so you have more time to order. It is possible bread can be dropped off in Sidney on Tuesdays as well.

For our milk customers we ask that as the weather gets colder you try and pick up your milk on Tuesdays. We will attempt to rig the fridge with a light bulb and thermostat so that it will not freeze during Tuesday afternoons but we can’t guarantee that it will work for longer overnight durations. You are assuming all risk of leaving milk overnight.

You can find us on Saturday for the last Sidney Farmers Market of the season! We will also be set up on Sunday at Saint Mary’s Walk with Nature. And on Tuesday we will be set up in Troy at the Miami County Virtual Market Fall Market at First Place Christian center. Then Thursday we will be taking some of the Grumpy Goats down to North Carolina so they can strut their stuff at the Southeastern Animal Fiber Festival!

Im opening the market now for Friday, Saturday and next Tuesday ordering. (Bread is still not available for this afternoon because I am still in NH – but if I don’t send this now I know I’ll forget!!!)

Thanks for a great season!

For those that want some fresh vegetables this week, stop in for some in person shopping today, Tuesday, or next Friday. These are the last days the farm store will be open for the season. We will still have bread, maple syrup, honey, lip balm available for Tuesday pick ups throughout the winter.

And as you’ve probably already guessed, there won’t be bread available until next Friday as I snuck out of town and am in New Hampshire for a few days! Thanks for hanging with us through another great season!

So we’re back to having bread available for Friday, Saturday and Tuesday! This weekend you can find Matt at the Sidney Farmers market 8-12 or swing on down to Pumpkinfest in New Bremen to see me 9-4.

Missing cream!

Hey everyone. This is a quick shout out to see if anyone accidentally grabbed a Bair Trax Dairy Cream out of the fridge yesterday. Let me know if you did so we can rectify the situation. All dairy products in the fridge are preordered through the Bair Trax Dairy herdshare. So we have a sad customer missing their already paid for cream. If interested in joining the herdshare let me know and I can get you info.

Also remember – no bread for Friday or Saturday pickup this week. You can order fro Tuesday. Thanks!

Hey everyone! We have a busy next couple of weeks to let you know about. First off, this coming weekend we will be set up at Handmade Harvest in Minster. Come see us Friday afternoon or Saturday morning in the Hausfeld Motors parking lot. We will have our bread available Friday afternoon so stop on down. There will be lots of other great venders too. That being said, if you want bread please order for Friday or Tuesday pick up. There won’t be bread at the Sidney Farmers market, though Matt will be set up with veggies- sorry for the inconvenience.

The following weekend is The Wool Gathering in Yellow Springs (Sat 10-6, Sun10-5) We will have a booth filled with our homegrown yarn and fiber so come visit! There will be animals to see, ice cream to eat, and more yarn than you know what to do with. Bread will only be available for Tuesday pick up that week and Matt will still be set up at the Sidney Farmers Market with veggies!

And mark your calendars for the weekend after that – New Bremen Pumpkinfest! We will be set up in the Artisan Showcase tent on Saturday. Bread will be available at the Sidney Farmers Market that day as well!

Ordering is open for the week! The only new item is the cabbage nuggets. You might be scratching your head as to what those are so I’ll help you out. Cabbage nuggets are the little cabbages that sprout after you cut the main head off. They are small but delicious. The listing is for 1 lb of nuggets which would probably be around 4.

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!
