The Market is now open for ordering for pick ups on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday. We have 4 pick up times and two locations but can also accommodate other times if you let us know.

New this week we have :

  • Lots and lots of garlic scapes
  • Green Cabbage in two different varieties -caraflex (pointy green cabbage) or farao(regular looking green cabbage)
  • Fennel bulbs – just a handful this week but more to come next week.
  • Chervil – a new herb on the farm with a deliciously mild anise flavor great for topping your fresh salads or using as garnish at your next dinner party!
  • Basil – we should have our first harvests of both the genovese sweet basil and the purple basil!!!

I don’t have them listed but we may also have our first harvest of fava beans on Friday so look for them when you come to pick up your orders!!!

This heat is definitely bringing on all the veggies in the garden.Peppers and eggplants are flowering away and the tomatoes already have green fruits.

And I wanted to give everyone a heads up that we will be planning to take the first Tuesday of July off from veggie harvesting/baking. We will still be accepting orders for Friday and Saturday before and after.

Stay Cool!

So Many Eggs!!!

We have sooooooo many eggs right now. It’s egg salad, quiche, and deviled egg time. Please help up eat them. This week only we’ll have eggs for $2.50 a dozen!!!

Also new this week we will have the first of our garlic scapes! I only have a few bunches listed though I suspect by Friday we’ll have some more so if it is zeroed out already leave me a comment that you would like some and we’ll save a bunch for you!

We’ve been busy on the farm. Our last field is being planted as we speak and rotary hoeing and row cultivating have already begun on the other fields. Being organic means we can’t just spray herbicides and call it done until harvest.

The garden is also in dire need of weeding, what’s new. The okra finally got out planted using our ‘new’ antique transplanter. We are fighting some blackflies(aphids) on our fava beans though are hopeful it won’t affect our harvest too much. From the looks of it next week we should be able to offer some fava beans, fennel, and kohlrabi!

Time to get back out in the garden…but again…please help us eat some eggs!!!!

Slight Change to hours!

Just note that Tuesdays hours should have said 2:00-6:30pm! So come on down for some fresh greens and some seed starts starting today!!!!

Summer is here!!!!

Summer is here as are the Grumpy Goat Farm store summer hours! Feel free to pre order and pick up, or stop in and shop at any of the following times:

  • Tuesday 4-6:30 at the Farm
  • Friday 4-6:30 at the Farm
  • Saturday 8am-12pm at the Farm
  • Saturday 8am-12pm at the Sidney Farmers Market

The store will be set up completely self serve as we can hardly manage the garden, baking, and fields much less also manning the store. Come right in the barn and help yourselves. Matt’s number is listed on the chalk board in case you need to get a hold of one of us.

All pre-ordered items will be clearly marked with a tag for how much is owed. Feel free to add other items to your shopping and check yourselves out.

This week we have some beautiful Grandma Hadley’s lettuce ready for eating. And we will also be selling off our extra vegetable seedlings. Get them Tuesday or Friday before we take them to the Sidney Market!!! (the seedlings will not be at the Farm on Saturday)

And disregard the fact that there is still a missing wall in the farm store! Consider it an open air market with a delightful view of an old combine and filled hay loft! Let us know if you have any questions! Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

The market is open for orders! Pick ups are on Tuesday 2-6:30 in the store front.

We are still really busy cooking syrup and waiting on the last two goats to kid. Feel free to swing into the barn when you pick up your order and visit the kids!

There are some new soaps added to the market this week : Lemon Poppyseed, Ylang ylagng lavender and orange, and peppermint.

Now back to cooking syrup. Enjoy the warmth!

2021 Syrup is here!!!

We’ve finally been able to add the first of our 2021 maple syrup to the market. 4.375 gallons have been bottled this week with more to come tomorrow. I don’t think we will reach the 33 gallons bottled in 2020 due to the extended cold in February and what looks like might be a quick warm up in March. Time will tell.

Along with manning our sugar shack we have also been prepping our seed beds in the garden and have been glued to our barn cam awaiting the arrival of our goat kids. Still none yet but they can’t hold out forever!

We’ll make sure we let you all know when the store front is open again (we haven’t made much progress yet). Hopefully in April, but for now please continue to pre-order and pick up on Tuesdays! Thanks for your patronage!

Finally the sap is flowing and we are boiling away! It is about a month later than we started last year. We are not complaining though because we loved having a few snowy weeks.

The winter down time is over.
We’ll be starting our goat kid watch this weekend as we celebrate Matt’s birthday! We are hoping to start more veggie seeds this week too now that the tunnels are warming up.

A bunch of new soap was added to the market last week with more to come next week. So keep an eye out. We also added some blueberry maple jam and blueberry rhubarb maple jam last week. They are a delicious tribute to my love of blueberry pancakes!

Enjoy the warmth and see you all soon.

Where has January Gone!!!

We hope everyone is having a lovely winter. We are gearing up to start tapping maple trees whenever the weather decides to turn, and will be planting our onions inside this week! Secretly I’m hoping it will stay cold for another month…but I’m not sure I’ll be so lucky.

The market is open for ordering this week! The chickens continue to amaze us with a bounty of eggs so please come and get some! We have begun to offer our ‘little chicks’ the option to go outside this week – as they are no longer so little. So far they just stand in the doorway and look out into the big wide world, unable to take the leap onto the grass.

I have listed a new batch of Hot Pepper Jam – made this week, with our own organic bell, jalapeno, and cayenne peppers.

There will also be new soap added weekly. Matt was nice enough to gift me a beautiful soap cutter and make a couple loaf molds recently. My goal is to have new offerings each week. This weeks new bars include:
100% coconut oil,
Goat Milk Lemon Eucalyptus,
Goat Milk Almond Oatmeal,
Goat Milk Orange Patchouli Rosemary Hearts,
Goat Milk Heart Bundles,
and Goat Milk Citrus Explosion.

And our Soap Sale continues with what remains from our 2020 soap. The bars are still perfectly good but going at a discounted rate to make way for the new varieties!!!
